REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Air Inlet Duct/Blower Housing Assembly

Tools Required:

 

Removal

  1. Loosen glove compartment assembly by squeezing sides of glove compartment together to disengage retaining tabs. Let glove compartment hang down in front of instrument panel.
  1. Disconnect blower motor power lead electrical connector.
  1. Disconnect vacuum line from outside-recirc door vacuum motor.
  1. Remove housing assembly-to-bracket case retaining nut.
  1. Close glove compartment door and remove two lower screws from blower motor housing.
  1. Lift blower motor housing and air inlet duct/recirc door assemblies away from the heater case.

    NOTE: Although it is not necessary, removing lower right trim panel will allow for easier removal.

Installation

  1. Tape blower motor power lead to air inlet duct to keep wire away from blower outlet during installation.
  1. Position air inlet duct and blower housing assembly to evaporator case, inserting flange at top of blower outlet into opening in evaporator case.
  1. Install two lower blower motor housing-to-heater case retaining screws.
  1. Hold outside-recirc door open with Rotunda Vacuum Tester 021-00014 or equivalent, and rotate the blower wheel to be sure it rotates freely.

    NOTE: If an interference exists, remove blower motor and wheel and correct the condition.

  1. Connect blower motor power lead to harness at connector.
  1. Connect vacuum line to outside-recirc door vacuum motor.
  1. Check to make sure blower motor is operational and that no air leaks exist between blower motor housing and heater case.
  1. While lifting blower motor housing for proper positioning, install blower housing-to-bracket retaining nut.
  1. Close glove compartment.
