REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Heater Case Assembly

 

Removal

  1. Remove floor console as outlined.
  1. Remove instrument panel and lay it on front seat. Refer to Section 01-12.
  1. Drain engine coolant from cooling system. Remove hoses from heater core. Plug hoses and core.
  1. Remove screw attaching air inlet duct and blower housing assembly support bracket to cowl top panel.
  1. Disconnect vacuum supply hose (black) from in-line vacuum check valve in engine compartment.
  1. Disconnect blower motor wire harness from resistor and motor head.
  1. Working under the hood, remove two nuts retaining heater assembly to dash panel.
  1. In passenger compartment, remove screw attaching heater assembly support bracket to cowl top panel.
  1. Remove one screw retaining bracket below heater assembly to dash panel.
  1. Carefully pull heater assembly away from dash panel. Remove heater assembly from vehicle.

Installation

  1. Position heater assembly in vehicle. Install screw attaching heater assembly support bracket to cowl top panel.
  1. Check heater assembly drain tube to ensure it is through dash panel and is not pinched or kinked.
  1. Working under the hood, install two nuts retaining heater assembly to dash panel. Install air inlet duct and blower housing support bracket retaining screw.
  1. Install one screw to retainer bracket below heater assembly to dash panel.
  1. Connect blower motor ground wire to ground and the harness to resistor and blower motor lead.
  1. Connect black vacuum supply hose to vacuum check valve in engine compartment.
  1. Install instrument panel.
  1. Connect heater hoses to heater core. Fill cooling system.
  1. Install floor console as outlined.
  1. Check system for proper operation.
