DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

Blower Motor Voltage Test

 

With A/C

Tools Required:

  1. Place the temperature selector knob in the COOL position.
  1. Place the function selector knob in the MAX A/C position to turn the blower motor on. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  1. Insert the probes of a Rotunda Dwell-Tach-Volts Ohms Tester, 059-00010 or equivalent, into the wire holes of the hard-shell connector and measure the voltage drop across the motor.
 

With Heater Only

  1. Rotate the temperature selector knob to the WARM position.
  1. Rotate the function selector knob to the FLOOR position and turn the blower motor on.
  1. Insert the probes of Rotunda Inductive Dwell-Tach-Volts Ohms Tester 059-00010 or equivalent, into the wire holes of the hard-shell connector. Measure the voltage drop across the motor.
  1. With the engine running (battery voltage approximately 14.2 volts), the voltage reading should be within the specified range for each switch position.
