REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Shaft Bearing, Lower

 

Removal

  1. Remove the steering column assembly as outlined.
  1. Remove upper bearing, lock cylinder housing, and steering shaft.
  1. Remove the lower bearing retainer ring.
  1. Pull the lower steering shaft bearing and sleeve out of the outer tube lower end.
 

Installation

  1. Install the steering shaft, lock cylinder housing, and upper bearing.
  1. Slide the lower steering shaft bearing and sleeve onto the lower shaft and seat into the outer tube. Lubricate the sleeve with Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C (ESA-M1C75-B) or equivalent lubricant to ease the installation.
  1. Install the lower bearing retainer ring.
  1. Install the turn signal and wash/wipe switch, and install the steering column as outlined.
