REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Fuel Injector

 

Removal

  1. Perform Steps 1 through 4 under Fuel Charging Assembly, Pre-Service Procedures.
  1. Remove upper intake manifold as outlined.
  1. Carefully remove electrical harness connectors from individual injectors as required.
  1. Remove fuel supply manifold as outlined.



  1. Grasping injector body, pull up while gently rocking injector from side-to-side.

  1. Inspect injector O-rings (two per injector) for signs of deterioration. Replace as required.
  1. Inspect injector end cap (covering the injector needle) and washer for signs of dirt and deterioration.



 

Installation

NOTE: Never use silicone grease. It will clog the injectors.

  1. Lubricate O-rings with light grade oil XO-10W30-QSP (ESE-M2C135-E) or equivalent and install two on each injector.
  1. Install injector(s), using a light, twisting, pushing motion.
  1. Install fuel rail assembly as outlined.
  1. Install electrical harness connectors to injectors.
  1. Install upper intake manifold as outlined. Perform Steps 1 through 6 of Fuel Charging Assembly Post-Service Procedures.
