Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal

A one-piece crankshaft rear main oil seal is used for replacement on all engines. If replacement is necessary, this type of seal must be used. The complete seal can be replaced without removing the crankshaft.

Removal

 CAUTION: Avoid scratching or damaging the oil seal surface.

  1. Using a sharp awl, punch one hole into the seal metal surface between the seal lip and the engine block.
  1. Screw in the threaded end of the Jet Plug Remover T77L-9533-B. Use the Jet Plug Remover to remove the seal.
 

Installation

  1. Lubricate seal with clean engine oil XO-10W30-QSP (ESE-M2C153-E) or equivalent.
  1. Position oil seal on Rear Oil Seal Installer T82L-6701-A. Position tool and seal on the rear of the engine. Alternate bolt tightening to properly seat the seal. (Two bolts are supplied with the Rear Oil Seal Installer T82L-6701-A). Engine flywheel bolts may also be used.
