Water Pump

 
 

Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system. Remove the air inlet tube.
  1. Remove the fan shroud retaining bolts and position the shroud over the fan.
  1. Remove the fan and clutch assembly from the water pump shaft. Remove the shroud.
  1. Remove the generator drive belt.
  1. Remove all accessory brackets which attach to the water pump. Remove the water pump pulley.
  1. Disconnect the radiator lower hose, heater hose and water pump bypass hose at the water pump.
  1. Remove the bolts that attach the pump to the cylinder front cover. Remove the pump and gasket. Discard the gasket.
 

Installation

 
  1. Remove all gasket material from the mounting surfaces of the cylinder front cover and water pump cover.
  1. Position a new gasket, coated on both sides with Perfect Seal Sealing Compound B5A-19554-A (ESR-M18P2-A and ESE-M4G115-A) or equivalent, on the cylinder front cover. Install the pump.
  1. Install the retaining bolts. Tighten to 16-24 Nm (12-18 lb-ft).
  1. Connect the radiator hose, heater hose and water pump bypass hose at the water pump.
  1. Install all the accessory brackets which attach to the water pump. Place the water pump pulley on the water pump shaft.
  1. Position the fan shroud over the water pump pulley and install the fan drive clutch and fan. Install the shroud retaining bolts.
  1. Install the drive belt.
  1. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Operate the engine until normal operating temperatures have been reached and check for leaks.
