Oil Pump

 

Disassembly

  1. Remove oil inlet tube from the oil pump and remove the gasket.
  1. Remove the cover retaining screws, then remove the cover. Remove the inner rotor and shaft assembly. Remove the outer race.
  1. Drill a small hole and insert a self-threading sheet metal screw of the proper diameter into the oil pressure relief valve chamber cup plug and pull the plug out of the chamber. Remove spring and plunger.
  1. Clean and inspect pump components. Refer to Section 03-00.
 

Assembly

  1. Oil all parts thoroughly.
  1. Install the oil pressure relief valve plunger, spring and new cup plugs.

     CAUTION: Ensure the dimple (identification mark) on the outer race is facing outward and on same side as identification mark on rotor. The race rotor and shaft and the outer race are serviced as an assembly. One part should not be replaced without replacing the other.

  1. Install the outer race and the inner rotor and shaft assembly.

    Install the cover. Tighten the cover retaining screws to 10-15 Nm (90-130 lb-in).



  1. Position a new gasket and the oil inlet tube on the oil pump and install the retaining bolts. Ensure the mating surfaces are clean and free of protrusions.
