CAUTION: Do not oil threads that require oil resistant or water resistant sealer.

When installing nuts or bolts, oil the threads with light-weight engine oil.

Exhaust Manifold

Removal

1. Remove air cleaner and duct assembly.

2. Remove EGR tube at the exhaust manifold and loosen at the EGR valve.

3. Disconnect (remove if necessary) the heated exhaust sensor (H02S) 9F472 from the exhaust manifold.

4. Remove eight exhaust manifold bolts, lifting eye and heat shield.

5. Remove two exhaust pipe bolts.

6. Remove exhaust manifold from the vehicle.

Installation

1. Position manifold to the engine.

2. Install five manifold bolts. Tighten bolts in sequence to 20-23 Nm (15-17 lb-ft), then tighten to 27-41 Nm (20-30 lb-ft). Install three stud bolts. Tighten to 27-45 Nm (20-33 lb-ft).

3. Install two exhaust pipe bolts and tighten alternately to 36-46 Nm (25-34 lb-ft).

4. Install heat shield. Tighten nuts to 27-40.5 Nm (20-29 lb-ft).

5. Connect the H02S.

6. Install EGR tube at the exhaust manifold and tighten the EGR tube at the EGR valve.

7. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Section 03-12.
