REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Pivot Shafts and Wiper Linkage

The wiper linkage is mounted below the cowl top grille. The pivot shafts and linkage assemblies are connected together with non-removable plastic ball joints. The LH and RH pivot shafts and linkage are serviced as one unit.

 

Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery and remove the RH windshield wiper arm and blade assembly from the pivot shafts.
  1. Remove cowl top grille retaining screw and grille.
  1. Disconnect the linkage drive arm from the motor crankpin after removing the clip. The clip is removed as shown in illustration.
  1. Remove the two screws retaining the RH pivot shaft to the cowl and remove the large nut washer and spacer from the LH pivot shaft.







    NOTE: Before installing the arm and blade assembly to the pivot shafts, ensure the motor is in PARK and the blades are set to Dimension X.

  1. To install, reverse the Removal procedure.

    NOTE: When installing the pivot shaft assembly retaining screws, tighten to 6.77-9.6 Nm (60-85 lb-in). When installing the LH pivot nut, tighten to 7.9-12.4 Nm (70-110 lb-in).
