Section 01-16: Wiper and Washer Systems | 1993 Mustang Workshop Manual |
Removal and Installation
NOTE: To prevent glass and/or paint damage, do not pry arm from pivot with metal or sharp tool.
Raise the blade end of the arm off of the windshield and move the slide latch away from the pivot shaft and slowly lower the arm onto the latch. This will unlock the wiper arm from the pivot shaft and hold the blade end of the arm off of the glass at the same time. The wiper arm can now be pulled off of the pivot shaft without the aid of any tools.
To install, push the main arm head over the pivot shaft. Ensure the pivot
shaft is in PARK position, and that the blade assembly is positioned to the
correct dimension as outlined under Adjustments. While applying downward
pressure on the arm head to ensure full seating, raise the other end of the arm
sufficiently to allow the latch to slide under pivot shaft to the latched
position using finger pressure only to slide latch. Lower the blade to the
moulding. If the blade does not touch the windshield, the slide latch is not
completely in place.
