Seat, Front Cushion

 

Inboard Tapping Plate (Pivot Bracket)

  1. Obtain the following parts:
  1. If the seat and track assembly was not previously removed from the vehicle, remove the seat and track assembly as outlined.
  1. Remove seat tracks from seat cushion frame.
  1. Disengage seat cushion trim cover retainers along the front, rear and inboard side of the cushion frame. Remove hog rings retaining trim cover at the rear of the cushion frame.
  1. Remove and discard the shoulder screw used to retain the seat back assembly to the cushion frame at the inboard pivot.
  1. Carefully peel trim cover up as required to expose the inboard pivot bracket.
  1. Drill out the stripped or deformed hole in the pivot bracket using a letter "X" (0.397 inch) drill bit.



  1. Carefully work the trim cover down over the pivot bracket sufficiently enough to permit alignment of the pivot screw to the hole in the pivot bracket.
  1. Position the seat back assembly to the cushion frame at the inboard pivot. Install the new replacement shoulder screw (Part No. N801715-S2).



  1. Install nut (Part No. N620482-S2) on the shoulder screw.
  1. Using an appropriate box-end wrench to hold the nut, tighten the screw and nut to 20-43 Nm (15-32 lb-ft).



  1. Install the cushion trim cover.
  1. Install the seat tracks.

    NOTE: If the seat is equipped with an inertia seat back latch, check the latch for proper operation (sensitivity test) before installing the seat assembly in the vehicle as outlined.

  1. Install the seat and track assembly in the vehicle as outlined.
  1. Check the seat tracks for proper operation.
 

Outboard Tapping Plate

  1. Obtain the following: N620482-S2 - Nut - M10 x 1.50, maximum two per seat.
  1. If the seat and track assembly was not previously removed, remove the seat and track assembly as outlined.
  1. Remove seat back latch cover.
  1. Remove and save the two screws used to retain the seat back latch to the seat cushion. Remove and save the shoulder screw used to retain the seat back to the seat cushion at the inboard pivot.
  1. On the outboard side of the seat cushion, remove the seat track.
  1. Disengage the cushion trim cover as required to gain access to the tapping plate.
  1. Drill out the stripped or deformed hole(s) in the tapping plate using a letter "X" drill bit (0.397 inch).
  1. Install the trim cover.
  1. Install the seat track to the seat cushion. Tighten the retaining screws to 17-23 Nm (13-16 lb-ft).
  1. Position the seat back to the seat cushion. Install the two previously removed screws at the outboard attachments. For the previously drilled tapping plate hole(s), install a nut (Part No. N620482-S2) on the screw. Tighten the screws to 30-43 Nm (23-32 lb-ft). Install the removed inboard pivot attaching shoulder screw. Tighten the screw to 19-27Nm (15-19 lb-ft).
  1. Install the seat back latch cover.
  1. Install the seat and track assembly as outlined.
  1. Check the seat tracks for proper operation.
