Seat Back Latch Replacement, Front

If the front seat back latch assembly does not pass the sensitivity test, the entire latch assembly must be replaced. Service of the latch components is not acceptable, and should not be attempted.

Removal

1. Remove seat and track assembly as outlined.

2. Disengage cushion trim cover as required to gain access to front seat back-to-seat cushion retaining screws as outlined.
   
   
   
   

3. Disengage seat back trim cover as required, to gain access to screws retaining latch/recliner assembly to seat back as outlined. Remove screws.

Installation

1. Position recliner assembly to seat back frame and install two retaining screws. Tighten screws to 23-31 Nm (17-23 lb-ft).

2. Install seat back trim cover as outlined.

3. Attach seat back to seat cushion with previously removed retaining screws. Tighten screws to 44-60 Nm (33-44 lb-ft). Connect electrical connector to recliner motor.

4. Install seat cushion trim cover as outlined.

5. Install seat and track assembly as outlined.

   NOTE: After latch assembly replacement, the seat assembly must be checked for proper operation prior to installing the seat assembly.

6. Check seat tracks, recliner and safety belts for proper operation.
