Speedometer Assembly

Federal law requires that the odometer in any replacement speedometer must register the same mileage as that registered in the removed speedometer.

Removal

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Section 13-01. Disconnect speedometer cable.

3. Remove seven screws retaining the mask and lens assembly.

4. Remove the two speedometer head assembly retaining screws and remove the speedometer.

Installation

1. Position the speedometer head assembly to the backplate and install the two retaining screws. If speedometer assembly is being installed, apply a 4.6mm (3/16 inch) ball of Speedometer Cable Grease E6TZ-19581-A (ESF-M1C160-A) or equivalent, in the drive hole of the speedometer head.

2. Position the mask and lens assembly to the backplate and install the seven retaining screws.

3. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to Section 13-01. Connect the speedometer cable.

4. Connect battery ground cable and check the operation of the speedometer.
