REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Instrument Cluster

 

Removal

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  1. Remove switch assembly on RH and LH sides of cluster assembly. Refer to Section 17-01.
  1. Remove two upper and three lower retaining screws from the instrument cluster trim cover. Remove the trim cover.
  1. Remove four retaining screws from instrument cluster to panel.
  1. Pull the cluster away from the instrument panel. Disconnect the speedometer cable by pressing on the flat surface of the plastic connector (quick connect), located behind the instrument cluster.
  1. Pull the cluster further away from the instrument panel. Disconnect the two cluster printed circuit connectors from their receptacles in the cluster backplate.
  1. Remove cluster.

     CAUTION: If gauges are being removed from the cluster assembly, do not remove the gauge pointer; magnetic gauges cannot be recalibrated.

 

Installation

  1. Apply a 4.6mm (3/16 inch) diameter ball of silicone damping grease in the drive hole of the speedometer head.
  1. Connect the two cluster printed circuit connectors to their receptacles in the cluster backplate. Connect speedometer cable to speedometer head.
  1. Position the instrument cluster to the instrument panel. Install the four retaining screws.
  1. Install trim cover. Install two upper and three lower retaining screws to instrument cluster trim cover.
  1. Connect battery ground cable.
