Section 09-00: Exhaust System | 1993 Mustang Workshop Manual |
WARNING: THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IS VERY HIGH.
NEVER WORK AROUND OR ATTEMPT TO SERVICE ANY PART OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM UNTIL IT
HAS COOLED. USE SPECIAL CARE WHEN WORKING AROUND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THESE
UNITS HEAT TO A HIGH TEMPERATURE AFTER ONLY A SHORT PERIOD OF ENGINE OPERATION.
The exhaust system on the four-cylinder I-4 engines is a single-pipe exhaust system.
The factory-installed exhaust system uses a one-piece converter system. The converter assembly is a bolt-on unit installed between the exhaust manifold and the muffler. Flared connections are used between the converter and the muffler.
