Section 06-06: Brake System, Hydraulic | 1993 Mustang Workshop Manual |
The shuttle valve provides full pressure to the rear brake system if the front system loses pressure. It is located between the front and rear brake systems in the brake control valve. If the front brake system develops significantly less pressure than the inlet side of the rear system, this valve will "shuttle," opening a bypass around the proportioning valve to supply fluid at full pressure to the rear wheel brakes.
