Brake Hose

A flexible brake hose should be replaced if it shows signs of softening, cracking, or other damage.

When installing a new brake hose, two new sealing washers should be used. Positioning of hose to brake caliper is controlled by a self-indexing brass block on 5.0L vehicles. When retaining brake hose connection to caliper, tighten bolt to 27-41 Nm (20-30 lb-ft). Attach intermediate bracket to shock strut and tighten screw to specification. Engage opposite end of hose to bracket on body. Install horseshoe-type retaining clip and connect tube to hose with tube nut. Inspect position of installed hose for clearance to other chassis components. Positioning of rear brake hose is controlled by self-indexing end fittings.
