Radiator Draincock, Threaded

 

Copper/Brass Radiator

Service or Replace

  1. Drain the cooling system and remove the threaded draincock assembly from the radiator.
  1. Inspect pipe threads on the draincock assembly and the threaded draincock boss in the radiator tank.
  1. If the boss threads are damaged, service them with a 6.4mm (1/4 inch) pipe tap. If the threads are damaged beyond service, install a new draincock boss (Part No. 8120) in the radiator tank.
  1. Apply Pipe Sealant with Teflon® D8AZ-19554-A (ESG-M4G194-A and ESR-M18P7-A) or equivalent to the draincock threads and install the draincock. Tighten the draincock to 16-20 Nm (12-14 lb-ft).
  1. Fill the cooling system and check for leaks.
