REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Window Regulator

 

Removal

  1. Remove door trim panel and watershield. Refer to Section 01-05.
  1. Prop the glass in the full-up position.
  1. Disconnect the electric motor wiring, if so equipped.
  1. Remove the three rivets (four rivets for electric regulator) attaching the regulator to the inner door panel. Remove the center pin from each rivet with a drift punch. Using a 1/4-inch drill, drill out the remainder of the rivet, using care not to enlarge the sheet metal retaining holes.

     WARNING: IF THE REGULATOR COUNTERBALANCE SPRING MUST BE REMOVED OR REPLACED FOR ANY REASON, ENSURE THAT THE REGULATOR ARMS ARE IN A FIXED POSITION PRIOR TO REMOVAL TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURY DURING C-SPRING UNWIND.

  1. Remove the regulator slide from the glass bracket. Remove the regulator from the door access hole.
 

Installation

  1. With glass in the full-up position, install window regulator through the access hole in the door. Insert the slide into the glass bracket C-channel.

    NOTE: 1/4-20x1 inch screws and 1/4-20 nuts and washers may be substituted for the rivets. Tighten to 9-14 Nm (7-10 lb-ft).

  1. Position the regulator base plate to the inner door panel and install three rivets (four for electric regulators).
  1. Adjust door glass as outlined.
  1. Connect the electric motor wiring, if so equipped.
  1. Cycle the door glass to ensure proper operation.
  1. Install the door trim panel and watershield. Refer to Section 01-05.
