Boom Diagnosis

 

Tools Required:

This indicates runout conditions that will not show up in other tests.

  1. Remove the axle cover plate. Refer to the appropriate Section in Group 05.
  1. Measure ring gear backlash on 30 consecutive ring gear teeth, using Dial Indicator with Bracketry TOOL-4201-C or equivalent and note the variation between the high and low readings.
  1. If over 0.10mm (0.004 inch), replace gearset.
  1. Install the axle cover plate.
